The commercial preview programme for the perpetual version of Office 2019 is now available for businesses. The new version will be available only for Windows 10 and includes Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Publisher, Access, Project, Visio and OneNote. Clearly Access and OneNote aren’t going anywhere soon, despite constant rumours on the former (often by those who don’t understand the power that professional developers can get from Access) and recent suggestions on OneNote for the desktop.
Office 2019 is planned for release later this year. As the first update of the perpetual version since 2016, the updates will include features already included in the rolling updates with Office 365 versions.
The rumours are that this release may be Microsoft’s last perpetual release, pushing everyone to the Office 365 platform.
